Since 2010, Leadership Northern Colorado has been, at its core, an investment in human capacity.
That sounds abstract, but the idea is both simple and significant: Northern Colorado’s future depends, in no small part, on the people who live and work here. Developing good leaders means developing people who understand the region, who know how its communities and institutions fit together and who are willing to take their share of responsibility for what comes next.
In 16 years, more than 400 people have graduated from the program. That’s over 400 leaders who have spent time looking beyond their own organizations and communities to better understand Northern Colorado as a region: how it works, where its challenges lie and what role they might play in shaping its future.
This work requires six months of leaders coming together to learn about the region that they share. Participants dig into public governance, land use and infrastructure, education and workforce, economic development and regional leadership.
They also get to know one another, and that part matters because (whether they realize it yet or not) the work these leaders do is connected.
Northern Colorado’s communities may have their own identities, but many of the issues shaping them are shared. From workforce and education to housing, infrastructure and economic development, the decisions made in one community can have implications across the region. LNC gives class members a chance to see more of that bigger picture, and to build relationships with people they might not otherwise encounter in their day-to-day work.
So, more than 400 LNC graduates have already been a part of that work. Now, it’s time to find the next 30.
Applications are now open.
